The Nashville Aquatic Club was once again well represented collegiately
as eight swimmers qualified to compete in the NCAA Championships.
The womens meet took place in College Station, TX this past
weekend with California winning the meet with a new US Open record
on the final relay. Cal just edged out Georgia and Arizona who
finished second and third respectively. NAC swimmers, Jacqueline
Martin Lacey and Sarah
Peterson represented the University of Texas and the University
of Florida. Jacqueline competed in the 200 butterfly where she
was 35th and Peterson swam both backstrokes where she was 31st
in the 100 and 47th in the 200. Beginning Thursday, March 26th,
the men will take to the pool in College Station in what promises
to be an equally exciting meet. Top team honors should be very
competitive between Texas, Arizona, Stanford, and Auburn. Coincidentally
the Nashville Aquatic Club qualified swimmers on all four of those
squads: Jackson
Wilcox (1650 fr, 500 fr, 200 fr), Hayes
Johnson (200 bk, 400 im) and Alan
Maher (100 bk, 200 bk) will be swimming for the University
of Texas; Curtis
Lovelace (100 br, 200br, 200 im) will be swimming for Stanford;
Jordan Slaughter
(100 fly, 200 fly) will be swimming for defending champion Arizona;
Andrew Mitchell
(200 im, 400 im, 200 fly) will be representing Auburn University.
