Green Group

Green Group

Group Description: This group focuses on teaching the fundamentals of all four strokes, as well as building strength and endurance through drills, multiple lengths, and on deck coaching. There is a strong emphasis on developing competition skills and readying the swimmers for competitive swimming. Some specific skills being taught include: legal technique in all four strokes, competitive turns, competitive starts, and an introduction to interval training. Basic dryland routines are introduced on Saturdays for 15 minutes before swimming to increase coordination and balance. Athletes need to wear a t-shirt, shorts and gym shoes over their swimsuit for dryland. The recommended age for this group is 6-8 years.

Equipment requirements: Swimmers must have a pair of fins and a mesh equipment bag to carry their fins on and off the pool deck for each practice.  Please make sure to label all equipment clearly with your child's name.

Practice Schedule: Green Group swimmers should attend 2-3 practices per week and compete in at least one swim meet per month.  It is recommended that your child come to as many Saturday practices as your schedule allows as these are the only days we offer dryland.
