For
the ninth time in the last ten NAC brings home the Southeastern
Swimming Championships bringing the total to 36. The margin of
victory was over 1100 points with the girls besting everyone by
800 points and the boys carrying the largest final tally as well
by 237 points. Leading the way in the 10 and under girls was Erika
Giuse with a new Southeastern Record of 1:04.63. Erika was also
runner up for the 10 and under high point behind teammate Annie
Kyriakidis and the 10 and under girls were runner up in the age
group high point as well. 11-12 girls won the age group high point
in their division with Sophie Pilkinton leading the way as the
individual high point. Pilkinton recorded victories in five of
her seven individual events. Chatham Dobbs also claimed individual
high point for the 11-12 boys winning the 100fly, 100back, and
the 50 fly. The 13-14 boys claimed age group high point and the
13-14 girls was runner up for their age group high point. On the
girls side Michelle Chintanaphol achieved her first NAC travel
standard in the 400IM with a time of 4:30.94 and Anna Grainger
was named runner up in the individual high point despite only
competing in six events instead of the maximum seven. In the senior
age groups NAC continued what had been an awesome fall and winter
season by claiming the womens age group high point and finishing
runner up in the means age group high point. Perhaps no event
illustrated the quality of swimmers on the NAC squad better than
the Mens 400 medley relay where NAC recorded a one-two finish,
showing the quality and depth that the team has in each stroke.
Standouts in the senior age groups were World Championship trials
cuts achieved by Caroline Reeves (2oo breast) and Megan Goss (1000
free). Sam Sloan also swam to his first team travel cut in the
200 IM and new Junior National time standards were recorded by
Goss, Deidre Jones, Garrett Keirns, and Chase Lovelace. Below
are some more of the outstanding performances by NAC swimmers
over the weekend. Congratulations swimmers on another awesome
performance and continued dedication to being the best in the
LSC.
