The Nashville Aquatic Club kicked off the 2009-2010 Short Course
season with some impressive swims at the Williamson County Indoor
Sports Complex in Brentwood this past weekend. There were some
new faces in the NAC crowd who made quite a splash in the age
group division while NAC swept some events by 5 places!
The highlight of the meet came when Jackson Defore broke two,
10 & Under National Age Group Records. The first came in the 10
& under 100 Freestyle. NAC's own Chas Morton held the record for
27 years until Jackson lowered the standard from 54.74 to 54.64.
Later that afternoon Adam Hinshaw's 500 Freestyle record from
2004 of 5:15.14 was broken by almost a full second and now stands
at 5:14.24. In addition to Jackson's records, he claimed 1st in
every event he competed in over the weekend. Congratulations Jackson!
In the girls 8 & Under division the quartet of Ellie Defore, Christina
Garcia, Tammy Guo and Caroline Cherry placed together in the top
5 in almost every event swam. Other names that were impressive
this weekend were Alex Gray winning the 50 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly,
and 100 & 200 IM. Sophie Pilkinton took the 50, 100, and 200 Freestyle,
50 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 100 & 200 IM. In addition to these
great performances were many other top finishes.
