NAC swimmers travelled South this past weekend to Atlanta with
the 13 and over crowd competing in the Emory Fall Invitational,
hosted by Emory University, while the 12 and unders headed to
Marietta for the ,TWS Invitational, hosted by the Kennesaw Tidal
Wave. Both meets proved to be very competitive and outstanding
opportunities for our swimmers to sharpen their skills prior
to the Music City Invitational and Meet of Champions.
The thirteen and over meet found the NAC swimmers as youngsters
with the majority of the participants were collegiate swimmers
representing schools such as Emory University, La Grange College,
Berry College, and Darton College. Swim Atlanta and NAC were
the only club teams of note but showed they were more than capable
of handling the competition. NAC swimmers tallied victories
in four events and added top three finishers in nine other events.
Leading the way for the Nashville men were Parker Camp and
Dakota Hodgson. Parker claimed victories in the 200 free (1:42.08)
and the 200 back (1:54.44), and also finished second in the
500 free, 200 IM, and the 100 back. Dakota won the 500 free
with a time of 4: 36.29, finished second in the 100 fly and
200 free and third in the 100 free. Kyle Johnson added a quick
victory in the 50 free with a time of 21.58. The men were also
strong on relays finishing 1-2 in the 200 Medley Relay. The
"A" relay of Parker Camp, Kyle Johnson, Dakota Hodgson,
and Madison Wenzler touched out the "B" relay of Jack
Murfee, Jarvis Werkhaven, Maclin Davis, and Pat Killian by a
mere three one hundredths of a second.
The NAC women were led by Megan Goss and Eleanor Phillips.
Megan had a strong second place performance in the 1650 free
(17:06.41) and Eleanor finished second in the 200 fly with a
time 207.75. The women's "A" free relay of Hannah
Runyon-Hass, Bridget Killian, Rachel Deutsch, and Grace Anne
Sanderson finished third (1:42.07) and the "A" medley
relay of Anna Grainger, Megan Goss, Eleanor Phillips, and Grace
Anne Sanderson were third with a time of 1:55.40.
In addition to these outstanding senior performances NAC's
13-14 swimmers competed toe to toe with their older counterparts
and faired quite well. Some standout performances from the 13-14
boys were; Ted Curtiss 200 back (2:00.11)-100 back (55.93)-200
free (1:53.92), Taylor Charles 500 free (4:58.85)-400 IM (4:25.73)-200
back (2:00.22), Alex Goss 100 breast (1:04.78)-500 free (5:06.6)-1650
free (17:22.03). For the girls Morgan Flynn 500 free (5:26.94)-400
IM (4:58.6), and Carissa Waller 200 fly 2:18.08. The 13-14 boys
relay team of Ted Curtiss, Alex Goss, Rhett Lundy, and Taylor
Charles finished eighth in the 200 Medley Relay with a time
of 1:47.34 making it the second fastest 13-14 medley relay in
NAC history.
