NAC Looks Very Strong At Baylor

Nashville Aquatic Club headed to Chattanooga this past weekend to compete in the Baylor Nike Invitational. With a strong team of age groupers and a very limited senior squad NAC finished second in both the men's and women's competitions to the host team, Baylor.

The eight and under girls were led by a powerful performance by Millie Oldham finishing in the top eight in all of her events. Other strong performances were turned in by Amaya Henry, Diana Araque, Kyler Freeman, Sarah Frances Morris, and Mikayla Oleksyk. John Windley was the only swimmer on the boy's side but finished top eight in each of his four events.

Youli Yao and Taryn Wade paved the way for the ten and under girls totaling 116 and 91 points respectively. It was a group effort however, with seven of the nine girls entered recorded scoring performances. New Southeastern standards were achieved by Zso Zso Biegl, Reilly Gabel, Nadia Nik, Taryn Wade, and Youli Yao. On the boys side Austin Morris won the 50 breast and 200 IM on his way to scoring 133 points. Austin combined with Eamon Morris, Barrett Jones, and Ford Ray winning both relays. New SE qualifying standards were achieved by Weston Bailey, Barrett Jones, and Ford Ray. Ray also added three new NAC top ten performances in the 50 back, 50 free, and the 500 free.

Annie Kyriakides, Erika Giuse, Tatum Wade, and Xiuya Yao accounted for eight winning performances with Kyriakides racking up five. The NAC girls dominated the competition winning both relays with the four above. New SE qualifying times were picked up by Kathryn Capizi, Erika Giuse, Brenna Logan, and Bailey Vernon. Annie Kyriakides also added a new NAC top ten taking over the top spot in the 100 IM. Eli Rawls led the boys with a breakout performance over the weekend. Rawls won the 50 breast, 100 IM, and 100 breast. Top eight performances were also posted by Will Nueser, Will McCall, Jake Bartow and Seth Kyriakides. New SE qualifying times were achieved by Bartow and Kyriakides.

The thirteen and up age groups were effected tremendously by the High School meet back in Nashville, however the few swimmers that made the trip performed quite well. Maddie Hoff had a very strong meet winning the 100 breast, 200 breast, and 50 free. Emma Blackwood, Katie Kemp, Theresa Smith, and Elizabeth Stinson also had several top eight performances. For the guys, Cole Schott had a very good meet, winning the 200 back and finishing top eight in five other events. Hannah Runyon Hass also had an excellent senior meet, winning the 100 back and finishing top 3 in all six of her events.

The meet along with the Excel Mardi Gras meet in two weeks are the final tune-ups for our Championship meets in February. Districts are only one month away and Southeasterns a mere four days later. Congrats to all the swimmers at Baylor and good luck in your upcoming meets!!
